Welcome Beatrice!

From the Philippines to Elche city!

Two weeks ago our school welcomed Beatrice, our teaching assistant. She comes from the Philippines. She will be in our school until the end of May. We are going to learn a lot of English and interesting things with her!

This is Beatrice giving a presentation about the Philippines.

We learnt lots of interesting facts about her country as:
- Filipinos speak Filipino language (Tagalog) and English
- Christmas is a very important celebration so they start decorating in September and put away the decorations in February.
- Filipinos use Spanish words because Spain ruled the Philippines from 1521 to 1898. Some of these words are: lechón, adobo, azul, mesa, Nochebuena, etc.
- The Philippine flag has got a white triangle and a sun that symbolise liberty, equality and fraternity; the three stars symbolise the three big islands of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao; a horizontal blue stripe for peace, truth, and justice; and a horizontal red stripe for patriotism.

Thank you very much Beatrice!!

And here is a video showing how beautiful the Philippines are!! Enjoy!
